Blissfully Domestic, the online destination for everything domestic is re-launching today with a new magazine-style layout. Included in the re-launch is the division of channels so you can easily find the content you want. So why am I posting about this here? Because I am going to be a contributor for the new Creative Bliss channel. I’ll be posting over there a couple times a month about crafts I’ve been doing or fun things I’ve discovered. I’ll try to remember to link it up here when my posts are up, but if you are into crafts you might as well just subscribe over there because there are a lot of other crafty ladies posting some great stuff too. Go on, go check it out. There’s a little something for everybody.

I just wanted to take a quick moment to welcome everyone to the new gettingcrafty.com. This site started out over a year ago as Novice Knitting, when I was completely obsessed with knitting. I quickly found that I wasn’t updating that site and realized that it was because I was interested in a lot more than just knitting.

It has been in the back of my mind for a very long time now that I wanted to re-make the site and turn it into more of a general craft site. I finally found the time to get things all set up and will be posting all of my crafty goodness here from now on. I still have several in-progress knitting projects to update on and I’ve been having a bit of fun with my sewing machine lately so hopefully I’ll have some fun things to post soon.

My other hope for this site is to highlight some of the amazing projects and tutorials that I find out on the internet. Other crafters give me a lot of inspiration and I’m all about sharing the love! If you see something out there that you want to share, feel free to send me a link.

While I do feel this site is ready for the public, I’m still tweaking things here and there so make sure to check back often. Also, if you find anything funky or the site just isn’t cooperating, please leave a comment or contact me through the contact form to let me know.

I decided this weekend it was time for a quick, easy project.  I haven’t had a chance to research and figure out what I’m doing wrong on the Grace beanie yet, so I put it aside for now. 

I got this great blue and brown novelty yarn in a sale a while back and have been really wanting to play around with it since then.  I decided to pull it out and have a little fun with it this weekend.

Since I was going for simple, I decided on a scarf.  When my sis found out what I was making she asked if she could have it.  I still haven’t decided whether I’m going to give it up because I’m already a little bit in love with it.  The picture does it no justice at all.  It is so soft and snuggly!  Plus, it is my first scarf ever.

I’ll have to post a better picture when it is all finished, but I may not get back to it for a few days as I have a certain little boy’s 2nd(!) birthday to celebrate this week.

Hi and welcome to noviceknitting.com, my newest blog venture.  I know there are are tons of knitting blogs out there to choose from.  In fact I visit many of them myself on a regular basis.  So why am I starting my own?  Basically, I just wanted a place to track my progress and keep track of links to patterns and other knitting sites I enjoy.

So why “Novice Knitting”?  Well, I’m a novice!  I just picked up knitting for the first time a few months ago and am learning as I go along.  So far I have completed two hats and a baby blanket but I have high aspirations.  I tend to prefer fast and simple projects and hope to highlight those that I enjoy here.  Hopefully along the way I can add some tips and tricks to help all of you other beginners out there.

Please be patient as I get the site set up and ready for traffic.  I have a full-time job, a toddler at home, and several other blogs I write so it may take me a while to get settled.  In the meantime, feel free to leave comments and a link to your own site or your favorite knitting site.
